how to repair seams in crochet
Step 1
If your seam has torn or come unravelled, follow this guide to mend it. Take a tapestry or embroidery needle and thread on some yarn which matches your item (I’m doing a contrast to make it easier to see).
Step 2
Tie a knot at the end of your yarn and push the needle through the seam, just before the damaged area.
Step 3
If any loose loops remain from the original seam, catch them in the start of your new stitching.
Step 4
Bring the needle from one side of the seam to the other, making sure you catch in both sides.
Step 5
Repeat step 4, gradually moving up the seam until you reach the end. If your repaired area doesn’t feel strong enough yet, you can move back up to where you started the repair to go over the area again.
Step 6
Make a knot at the end of your yarn.
Step 7
Sew the new loose end back into the seam to stop it from unravelling again.
Step 8
Snip off any remaining yarn.
Step 9
You should now have a repaired seam!
